Really you feel you are in a psosition to comment on everyone who finds the torment torture and killing of animals for entertainment abhorrent and you call such people sanctimonious you couldn't make it up.Francisco wrote: 26 Dec 2019 19:00 Those people you refer to above, are merely a cancer to the health of a forum...they are diseased and should be avoided by decent people!
Yeah Yeah Yawn you're a bore
one could say killing animals for food is barbaric..I don't...one could say killing fellow humans is barbaric, but excuse that in the case of War...
One could say killing fellow humans by execution because they have killed fellow humans themselves, is barbaric...I don't..
Of course you don't but that is what seperates us from savages.
One could say killing fish for food is acceptable, using nets to catch them by the gills..is acceptable, not barbaric, but killing them by sports such as fishing is not...I do not agree...
One could say, ...but the sanctimoneous will not, ...that foxes killing chickens is barbaric when it is patently not for food, but just bloodlust..I don't...
But we are talking about tormenting and killing animals for entertainment...as an afterthought the only creature that kills for bloodlust apart from humans is the domestic cat.
I see a Spanish bullfight as a contest, pitching the bravery of the bullfighters, matadors, picadors et al against the huge brute force and ferocity of the bull...bred especially to exhibit that same ferocity.
Couple that with the pageantry, music, and sheer tradition...I love it!
Bravery of the bullfighters my arse.On a visit to the bullfighting museum in seville the guide told us that the reason they fight bulls is because bulls are predictable whereas cows are not.
So do millions...from all across the world...those who object would be better advised to concentrate their hate against terrorists, disease, starvation, exploitation of humam beings...
They do..if you removed your head from your arse you'd possibly see that.but they do seem to think being kind to animals will greater ease their conciences and guilt!
What garbage why should people who care for the wellbeing of animals have to ease their concience?
Those who cry "barbaric"...do they eat meat...do they ensure they know the conditions and whereabouts of their chosen carcass, do they only eat free range chickens and eggs, non factory farmed fish, do they prefer halal throat cutting, or killing by a bolt through the skull?? Do they eschew veal, lamb, or always ensure their meat has had a chance to lead a peaceful life to full maturity before slaughter?
Do they Hell!!!!! Those Hypocrites are no different to the rest of us.....

Re: Hunting
I eat meat fish poultry and game,i hate bullfighting, fox hunting, dog fighting, hare coursing cock fighting and any sport where animals are killed in the name of entertainment so if that makes me a hypocrite (along with millions of others on this planet)then that is something i have to live with,i don't pay to see animals killed in an abbatoir or in a battery hen farm and i don't feel particularly sorry for the cooked chickens sold at the markets but i do feel sorry for animals experimented on in laboratories so perhaps i am mixed up as you suggest...but i'll still sleep ok at night.

...I wish you nothing but sweet dreams...and I share your disgust of "real"fox hunting, cockfighting, dog fighting, hare coursing...but I do not feel the same as you about bullfighting...and I appreciate the sight of "hunters", with their horses and red red coats, bugles, packs of hounds , taking a stirrup cup on the village greens, and town squares of England....
...and that is where I will take my leave of this discussion...it seems to have run its course..no pun intended..

You`ll love this then .. It`s all about cruelty to bulls.Francisco wrote: 26 Dec 2019 19:00 I see a Spanish bullfight as a contest, pitching the bravery of the bullfighters, matadors, picadors et al against the huge brute force and ferocity of the bull...bred especially to exhibit that same ferocity.

Every year, approximately 35,000 bulls are tormented and killed in bullfights in Spain alone ... FOR ENTERTAINMENT ..

I have made my contribution, there have been responses, people cannot understand my point of view, nor I theirs...so that is the debate over for me, please continue in my absence, but remember to always be kind to animals...they are not just food or pets, for us...

Hunting?
Pathetic and barbaric and it has no place in a civilised society.
You want the thrill of the chase? How about the drag hunt. Much the same as the traditional hunt but without the mindless bloody murder of a (probably) innocent fox at the end of it. Maybe this doesn't satisfy the perverted bloodlust enough though... Maybe dress up in your silly red outfits and go to the local park and cut the heads off a couple of ducks for the fun of it. See where that gets you.
I've had many heated arguments with hunt supporters and other 'country folk' over the years and I despise everything they stand for. I'm not a sab by any definition of the word. I live in the country and I've heard our local hunt out a day or two ago and I cringe with embarrassment. I truly understand what the sabs are trying to achieve and I support it whole heartedly.
The fox has as much right to live as we do. Fair enough, it may kill for fun occasionally but are we any better? We (not me) do it in the name of 'entertainment'...
