Eden Roc the famous "bordello" just down from The Masa Hotel which has been closed for a few years now, has been sold to a French company. It is to be completely refurbished and opened as a hotel. There are spectacular views from that site.

I totally agree with you Bee about the views, I am just surprised that given its prime location on the coastline that someone had not bought it sooner. Think I read somewhere that it has largely been abandoned since 2013.

Sounds like good news for the surrounding area too, as the French company are to renovate that as well as Eden Roc.

I must say I have missed the big landmark red lit up sign as you travelled out the coast road from Torrevieja. It is a fantastic site so hopefully they will do it proud.

Now that is news! Eden Roc , always pass it and wonder what is to become of it.

While you are at it, what has become of the plans Ikea had to open in Alicante? Has there been any update recently? I hate that drive down to their Murcia store!

Some years ago, we sold a house in Spain, and had to spend one night somewhere before flying home.
I cannot remember if it was actually the Eden Roc, it was in that area, ...but in the afternoon, my wife and I needed somewhere to kip, and I sent her in to enquire if one night stay was ok, and the cost.
She came back to the car, red faced, and told me the nice ladies inside, after having a good laugh had explained to her that their establishment was engaged in a different business to what we were seeking.!

We proceeded to a motel in Punta Marinas...but made sure the door was locked...just in case...!

Sounds a bit like The News of the World long ago when they used to say "our reporter made his excuses and left" We did something similar many moons ago in Ibiza when our children were small. We were staying in apartments and there was a pub underneath which we strolled into. We were wondering why they were giving us funny looks with 2 small children on tow until we realised all the very good looking women were "hostesses" and it was a "Night Club"
