Trivial pursiut questions no.15
It is commonly thought that the Sahara desert is the largest on earth, but Antarctica is around 50% bigger and is classed as a desert because it receives only around 125mm of precipitation a year which is less than the criteria for a desert which is 250mm per year.

You are quite right elcarretero and thank you for raising it.
It crossed my mind reading your post that the answer might be correct but I had omitted the word "hot" before "desert" in the question, but having doubled checked the question source that is not the case.
