Torrevieja Bus Station To Be Replaced With Park ?

Reported in the media that Torrevieja City Council are looking to buy the land the existing bus station is located on, demolish it and build a park. Obviously there is the small matter of the Council finding a contractor to build the new bus station, with no interested party when the tender was first issued.

Be interesting what the current land owner feels about the Council's plans for the land, as I am sure he/she would have been hoping that a developer would have come in an offered a substantial amount of money for this prime real estate location in the centre of Torrevieja, but with the Council now looking to amend the urban plan to make this a green area the owner will be limited to who he/she could sell to - in fact probably limited to one buyer, the Council, and the land value will decrease to reflect it can no longer be built on.

The land allocated for the new bus station is adjacent to the CV905 near Toretta I by the Proteccion Civil Headquarters.

That's a stupid place for a Bus Station ,it should be in the centre of the town , I wonder who owns that plot of land ???????

On the contrary freddo, IMHO it is an ideal place as it has easy access to N332, and along CV 905 to the motorway. There will be regular shuttles, I should imagine, to Eras de la Sal/mini golf for those who wish to be in town.

It is better for those of us outside torrevieja as it is a nightmare getting to the bus station sometimes and never anywhere to park the car

live everything some will be happy with the new location and others not. I assume for some outside of Torrevieja area the journey time to the centre of Torrevieja will take longer as there will no longer be a direct service. maybe more pressure on the urban bus services and need increase in those buses and frequency when the new bus station happens ?

I have done an awful lot of travelling in Spain on the very good coach links we have in this Country I cannot think of one station that is so City/Town centre based as the one in Torrevieja.
As it as been pointed out previously getting to the station in town is hard work and almost impossible to park / Wait / Drop on / off

I have no strong views one way or the other but I would have thought coach and rail stations are always in the centre of a town or city. If I have a business meeting in Birmingham or Manchester, I want the train to take me to the centre, not Solihull or Hyde (unless by some fluke the meeting happens to be there). Surely the majority of bus users want to catch a bus into town? So people from San Luis, La Mata, Orihuela costa etc, wanting a night-out in Torrevieja will get a bus to the new bus station, and then have to get another into town?

We have a terrible bus service from blue lagoon and if i need to go to catch a bus from the station to say go to madrid or elsewhere for a short break i need to either book a taxi or use the car
The location of the new bus station will make it easier to find a parking space for a couple of days
It is the same if we want to catch a train at alicante, only extortionate priced car parks around and the one at the train station was charging in excess of 20 euros per day, not sure what they charge now , so adds extra expense to the break
