Hotel prices
SPAIN is seeing a considerable increase in hotel prices according to a new study, with the new average cost of a hotel stay being 200 euros per night in some of the most popular areas. I think the Alicante province is over €150 a night. Not slowing bookings down the article stated.

Re: Hotel prices
You can come and stop in my place if you want for €50, and that includes a Goblin Teasmaid.
You get a breakfast thrown in and if you want it on a plate, that's €5 extra.

Re: Hotel prices
Wonder if hotel prices have increased as a consequence of having to pay staff higher rates to retain / attract new staff ?
Just took a quick look at La Zenia Hotel. They currently have B&B (double room) at just over €200 per night and that is after a 10% discount applied on their website. The hotel are also not taking bookings for any stays less than 7 nights.
Sure I read in the past week that occupancy rate of hotels on the Costa Blanca was around 95%. This figure can be somewhat misleading as some hotels have reduced the number of rooms available due to shortage of staff etc.

Re: Hotel prices
Wow, thats a lot then, €200 a night. I reckon people like me not renting out because of licenses etc must be helping the hotels. I have a friend further south near a beach who gets €100 a night for his 2 bed apartment. Nothing that spectacular either. Unemployment used to be very high in Spain, I have not checked lately but maybe it is changing. I have a brother who worked for BT for over 30 years, made redundant, 61, not really interested in working by the looks of it. The pandemic has changed a lot of outlooks. My companies staff turnover increased by about 8% at one stage, settling down now, the ones that did not want to come back or changed jobs have done so. Interesting times.
Re: Hotel prices
I know many people who rent their 2 bed apartments for a lot less than €100 nght and have no licence and people with a licence who don't strictly follow the rules
You have to turn a blind to lots of things I'm afraid.
