Welcome Bulgaria and Romania

Looks like both will be joining the Schengen area by the end of the year.
I am sure this will benefit the EU and both countries as they will be able to cross borders easily and trade without many restrictions..
The EU goes onward and upwards..

I never doubted that it would, although in certain quarters it's imminent demise is predicted.crummy wrote: 15 Jul 2023 08:10 .

Re: Welcome Bulgaria and Romania
Is that the same demise that predicted the EU would collapse and disappear 2 years after the UK voted to leave along with the Euro.Brandyboy wrote: 15 Jul 2023 08:26 I never doubted that it would, although in certain quarters it's imminent demise is predicted
I also read once that both France and Netherlands would leave once the UK did, but that was never happening either.
Re: Welcome Bulgaria and Romania
Yup, we've got the imminent worldwide banking crash and the collapse of the American dollar to come yet, although that's been 'imminent' for the last two years and always seems to coincide with a ' hot August on the way' .paulja wrote: 15 Jul 2023 08:38Is that the same demise that predicted the EU would collapse and disappear 2 years after the UK voted to leave along with the Euro.Brandyboy wrote: 15 Jul 2023 08:26 I never doubted that it would, although in certain quarters it's imminent demise is predicted

So what with the heatwave we are having at the moment, it could be this year.
But I find that when questioned about the non-happening of predictions, the stock answer is alway that ' They have happened, but because you're 'not in the know',you won't know that they have 'happened' as you won't read about it in the MSM'
Difficult to argue with that kind of logic, especailly when 99.9999999 % of the world get their information from MSM and not by coded secret messages sent in box of Smarties
Re: Welcome Bulgaria and Romania
You are, like most people, thinking of the dictionary definition of "imminent"Brandyboy wrote: 15 Jul 2023 09:06

Which is "about to happen.".
Not the ignorant persons definition which is "about to happen, but when it doesn't we still say imminent"
7 years later its all still imminent.
How long before the only country in Europe not in the EU or the customs Union will be the UK, Russia, Belarus.
Re: Welcome Bulgaria and Romania
Yes I see now Paul, so it's the very 'fluid' definition of 'imminent', so some events could be permanently imminent ... so to speak.
Re: Welcome Bulgaria and Romania
I keep seeing countries joining the EU and NATO ... but I don't see many wanting to leave.
That must tell us something.

That tells us lots of things crummy, and they are obvious, nobody wants to leave.crummy wrote: 15 Jul 2023 12:12 I keep seeing countries joining the EU and NATO ... but I don't see many wanting to leave.

But if you're a Putin bum sniffer, then you will have a much different opinion, but we won't see any proof that anyone wants to leave either the EU or Nato in the MSM.
Because, when you know, you know. And when you don't know, you just tell lies.
Re: Welcome Bulgaria and Romania
There is no restriction on trade between Bulgaria , Romania and the other EU countries. It is only on people entering the Schengen area from these 2 countries. Even that just means they have to show their Passport, and it can't be stamped, as we do in Ireland when travelling through the Schengen border.crummy wrote: 15 Jul 2023 08:10 .
