Return to normal?

Post: # 4188Post Francisco »

Cannot see myself returning to normal when lockdown ends. Not for quite a while.
I will endeavour to keep the 2 metres apart in supermarkets, and will only use bars /cafes where the wife and I can sit outside and a couple of tables away from others.
I will carry antibacterial spray or gel with me everywhere and in the car.
I will only pay for my petrol by card at the pump, and spray my hands, card and my keys afterwards.
I will not use cash anywhere....and when masks become freely available will ensure I always have one to hand.

I doubt, frankly that life will ever be the way it was before the virus.

I will agree to disagree with you Francisco. As humans we have the great ability to forget. Initially we will take precautions and do the things we are doing now automatically like disinfecting and keeping our distance but that will disappear as we all begin to move around normally and mix and integrate. It would be nice if the Chinese came clean and gave us the truth about how the virus got into circulation. We know that won't happen so hopefully our best brains will come up with the vaccine by September which will mean freedom for everyone. Unfortunately the psychological and economic devestation for people will be harder to forget. We already know this from the economic crash of September 2008.

I think short-term Francisco is right and these are steps my wife and I intend to take but longer term I think Bee as hit the nail on the head. We will soon forget but the length of 'soon' is yet to be determined.

As for China and the virus I've started to use the word 'China' before all mention of corona virus or covid-19 - lets not forget where the virus began or the steps China failed to take at the beginning. They covered it up. They banned all internal flights from Wuhan but allowed International flights to carry on.

Just like Spanish Flu and Hong-Kong Flu, this virus originated in China and the world should remember this as the Chinese economy recovers and flogs us the PPE that we so desperately need (as well as the antibody tests that don't work in 70% of cases).

I do not have any dispute with the Chinese people..just their government and its systems..
Maybe we can bring them into our kind of world...maybe not...but we must be vigilant and protect our values and our society.
