That's a very snazzy set of wheels. Good luck with it. I will have to wait for the Lotto to trade in my trusty steed which I have owned since it was born :) Problem is it would be sent to the breakers yard and I am sentimentally attached to it. It was 16 beginning of January so it has paid back all its dues to the environment by now.

My diesel car in Spain is 20 years old, I purchased that from new. A/C has had it, can't even get a pollution sticker as it is too old and 'dirty' but the older a car is the more environmentally friendly it is as producing any new car uses resources and I only drive that one for 6 weeks a year but the end can't be too far away for it. I have a 2008 rav 4, 4 x 4 at home as well, that will outlast all these electrical vehicles,16 years old, over 100,000 miles on that and no problems.

I went out with my son in his new electric car today ,we were going to the hospital around 1 hour away..I said to him the cars lovely but I’m freezing could we have the heating up please..he said sorry but watch this - the heating goes on-the battery life drops, what! So if you were based in Scotland in our lovely freezing snowy weather and get caught in a bit of a snowstorm your stuffed because you can’t keep the car heating on or the battery drains? Yep but it looks good 😅😅for goodness sake give me my old petrol / diesel bangers anyday..🤭😉

Reports are of massive hikes in insurance for EV's due to both cost of repairs plus long downtimes resulting in large bills for replacement hire cars.

e.g. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/cons ... rance-cost
Yes it's a UK site but no reason to think it's not a widespread issue.

Not in my lifetime thank you!

I was just thinking yesterday all these electric cars are paying very little road tax yet they are approx 2.5 times heavier than combustion engine cars so they must be doing as much damage to the road as a big truck. Road tax is supposed to be for maintaining the roads so are we going to have poorly maintained roads and more and more potholes due to the EV evolution.

As well as the occasional multi storey car park and everything in it turned into an inferno.

I am sure in a few years the battery problem will have sorted itself out. Toyota are introducing solid state batteries which will be a game changer.
