Would appear to be significant step forward in the dualling of a section of the N332 through Torrevieja, although no timescales are mentioned when the widening may become a reality.

Reported elsewhere:
Three junctions will need to be updated on the section between the CV-95 turn for Torrevieja Hospital and the Avenida de Rosa Mazon Valero bridge.
Just one bridge will need replacing - that on the cemetery road - and changes will be needed to existing underpasses.
Sound-absorbing screens up to three metres tall to counter noise pollution will be erected along different sections totalling just over a kilometre of the N-332.

Long interesting article by Keith Barry on Facebook.
FINALLY THE WIDENEING OF THE N332 TO START IN 2030 !!
The Government approves the environmental impact report to double the N-332 in Torrevieja
The Ministry of Transport now has to finalise the drafting of the final project and put out to tender the work that increases its budget to 55 million euros for a section of 4.77 kilometres. The Ministry of Transport has obtained the favourable Environmental Impact Report from the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic
Challenge for the project to double the N-332 road as it passes through Torrevieja.
It is the first relevant step for the final execution of the works after the six-year phase of drafting the basic project and the environmental assessment. The Ministry of Óscar Puente will now work on preparing the final project and presenting it to the public in order to put the execution of the works out to tender, although the information made public this Monday by the Ministry does not specify new deadlines. The variant only has one lane in each direction of travel despite the fact that it is used by 40,000 vehicles a day, a figure that far exceeds 50,000 during holiday periods. This increase in the frequency of vehicle traffic causes long delays and daily congestion on access roads such as the CV-95 on the Hospital-La Veleta stretch or the CV-905-Orihuela street. The project involves an investment of 55 million euros (VAT included), according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Transport on Monday, to incorporate two lanes, one in each direction, along 4.47 kilometres of the bypass, between the links with the CV-95 roads at the Hospital and the bridge on Avenida de Rosa Mazón (from kilometre 53.690 to 58.160 of the N-332).
The initiative leaves out the section between the bridge on Avenida Rosa Mazón and Alto de la Casilla, another four kilometres. This estimated funding represents fifteen million more than the initial forecast when the basic project was put out to tender. The drafting of the latter was awarded in June 2018, with a deadline of 18 months to the company Consultrans and was due to be delivered in December 2019. Although this document was not finalised until the end of 2023.
Projected solution
According to the municipality, the projected solution will be developed entirely along the corridor of the current N-332 road. The new road will have the characteristics of a multi-lane road, with a project speed of 80 km/h and two new lanes, each 3.5 m wide.
In addition, the project studies the reorganisation of the existing accesses and the following actions are considered necessary:
Replacement of the overpass of the cemetery road.
Adaptation or replacement of the existing underpasses.
No impact on the overpasses of the CV-905 and Avenida de Rosa Mazón Valero. The latter is the bridge that connects Delfina Viudes Avenue with Ozone, Habaneras and Carrefour.
To correct noise pollution, four sound-absorbing screens will be installed, with category B3 noise attenuation properties. These screens will be between 2 and 3 meters high and have a total length of approximately 1,113 linear meters and will be installed in different areas of the section, coinciding with the most sensitive buildings.

Re: Dualling N332 In Torrevieja - Environmental Report Approved
Another 5 years!!. That's just mad. By the time 2030 comes the price will have doubled again. €11¾ million a kilometer. Cheaper to buy out the tolls on the AP7.
