Disappointed but not surprised
Re: Disappointed but not surprised
Stowie39 looks like no relief until maybe June. Can you hang on until then!! In an article from today's Informacion .
The City Council has begun, albeit gradually, to install the new cabins and toilets on the beaches. In this case, it is a procedure that was awarded last year. There are already two new units: one in the "pools" on Juan Aparicio Promenade and another on Los Europeos Avenue in La Mata. This contract also includes a unique lifeguard tower for La Mata Beach. In addition, it must be completed with another contract, this time in its initial phase, which will allow for the repairs of all these elements and the opening of the toilets on the promenades, which remain closed more than a year after being installed at an outlay of more than 300,000 euros.

Great news. Hopefully they will get the beach furniture and Lifeguards out now.

So as I was in Torrevieja yesterday I thought I'd try them. Guess what, it ate by 50 cents and didn't let me in. Oh well!

Hearing that actually makes me wonder about the reliability of the toilet, and whether it would be equally reluctant in letting you out once you are inside.stowie39 wrote: 12 Jun 2025 06:56 So as I was in Torrevieja yesterday I thought I'd try them. I have this vision of mid-summer, 100° heat, someone stuck inside, fire brigade in attendance, crowds gathered, and a social media influencer recording the incident for their TikTok channel as someone is prised out to cheers from the crowd.
Re: Disappointed but not surprised
The lifeguards on the Orihuela Costa have been deployed earlier than normal this year, and I am sure there will be calls for Torrevieja to do likewise in the forthcoming year.Bee wrote: 11 Jun 2025 22:52 Great news. Hopefully they will get the beach furniture and Lifeguards out now.

Now you will all be pleased to know they are in 5 locations around the town. 2 of them in La Mata. I had to look up the Park mentioned in La Mata as never heard the name before. It is the name of the natural park in by La Mata Lake. I would hate to get stuck in there and couldn't get out. I think if I was in a hurry to go I would find a space behind a tree. The Firebrigade could be very busy this summer. Of course going by Stowie39 they will all probably be out of order or occupied by the homeless. Maybe you were a bit previous Stowie and the Mayor hadn't gotten round to the opening ceremony

Seems like the only thing missing from the toilets is free wi-fi, and perhaps an external clock to show how long the person occupying the toilet has left remaining/maximum waiting time for the next person in the queue.Bee wrote: 12 Jun 2025 10:00 Now you will all be pleased to know they are in 5 locations around the town. 2 of them in La Mata.
