Hi all,
I;ve got quite an old HP laptop and the outer casing is broken.
I think I could replace it with a second hand one but don't know the model No serial No etc.
How can i find out what is comptible?

If the HP model and serial number are not detailed on manufacturers label on the bottom of the laptop, or the label is missing, there are a couple of ways you can find out that information. Click on Start Menu -->> then Settings -->> then System -->> then scroll down the menu on the left hand side and click on About, and it should show the model number and serial number amongst the other system information.

Theres is another way than suggested can go to https://www.hp.com/us-en/parts-store put in the serial number or model # or part number and it will give you a list of things you can replace. Word of warning regarding using second-hand parts If the computer is under warranty and you put an non-hp or non-dell etc part the manufacturer will not do repair or replacement if there is non parts from the manufacturer.dave c wrote: 01 Feb 2026 15:03 Hi all,
