Torrevieja awards the contract for the redevelopment of Los Locos beach for more than 8.5 million euros

The project will transform more than a kilometer of the coastline with new green spaces, pedestrian areas and leisure areas.

The Local Governing Board of the Torrevieja City Council has approved the awarding of the redevelopment works of Los Locos beach to the company Pavasal for an amount of 8,592,352 euros and a planned execution period of 18 months.

The project, one of the most important planned for the city's waterfront, will involve a comprehensive transformation of the seafront promenade with the aim of improving accessibility, expanding pedestrian areas and strengthening the connection between the city and the beach.

More than 21,000 square meters of work

The project encompasses a total area of 21,044 square meters and over 1,100 linear meters of pedestrianized coastline. The renovation will include the creation of new green spaces, tree planting, renewal of street furniture, and the addition of children's play areas and outdoor fitness spaces, promoting a more sustainable environment adapted to modern urban needs. The City Council emphasizes that the future promenade will allow for more comfortable and accessible movement for residents and visitors, while also fostering community interaction and enjoyment of the coastal area.

The project was drafted by Valencian architect Juan Ignacio Fuster Marcos, who incorporated the various technical and sectoral requirements set forth by both the Valencian Regional Government and the Provincial Coastal Service. The final design aims to reconcile the modernization of the promenade with respect for the coastal environment and the area's environmental conditions.

Works divided into four phases

The Councillor for Urban Services, Sandra Sánchez, explained that the works will be carried out in four distinct operational phases, allowing for the gradual opening of the different sections once completed. The first phase will cover the area between Calle La Sal and Avenida de las Habaneras, a sector chosen because it will generate the least impact during the summer season.

The council has indicated that work will be carried out individually on the impacts on traffic, access to homes and garages, public transport and commercial activity, adapting the execution to the characteristics of a particularly touristic and busy area.
