I watched an interesting programme on Franco last night. Very I formative. It centred on all the bad things he did but he did do good things for the country too??

He was a dictator.

Nothing good about a dictator.

He was very anti-communist and reinstated the Spanish monarchy when he died, which allowed King Juan Carlos to turn Spain into a democracy.

Other than that ....

Some countries need a Dictator in charge . Especially, when there are warring factions living within that country .
An example if this is Iraq and Libya, which have become chaotic , since Saddam and Gadaffi were ousted

Bank to topic.

Franco did a lot of good , when he came to power ( if one was on his side , of course ).
The widows of his army members who lost their lives, were given the licences to run the Estancos ( tobacconists ), to ensure that they never suffered financial hardship.
Other Army personnel who has been injured , but we're still mobile , were given taxi licences .
Those that lost ( or partially) their sight were licenced to sell Once lottery tickets.

So, all in all , he wasn't such a bad guy .
Anyone who destroys left wing commies , is ok in my book . :D

As expected, a lack of knowledge showing.

You say good because he looked after the widows of his army people and the injured had a taxi license and the blind sell lottery tickets..
What a claim to fame.
Without him and others similar they would not be widows, injured or blind in the first place.

His dictatorship's use of forced labour, concentration camps, and executions led to between 30,000 and 50,000 deaths. Combined with wartime killings, this brings the death toll of the White Terror to between 100,000 and 200,000.

He was supported by the soon to be enemies of the UK, namely Germany and Italy.

Still he gave his injured a taxi license.

Saddam was not good (gassed his iwn people), Gaddafi was not good.

Lets try listing a few other dictators.

Hitler
Mussolini.
Stalin
Pol Pot
Papa Doc
Ceaușescu
Kim Jong
Mao
Mugabe
Bashar Hafez al-Assad
Etc etc

Goid point is they all created employment in cemeteries.

And just to highlight they are not all right wingers killing commies, they kill all who disagree, left, right and all thise in between.

Please do not turn this forum into anothet one to suit your vendetta against non tories, you have 2 others for that where thats all that is left on them.

Killing civilians of your own country is not good regardless of what you think, taxi license or not.

Excellent post as usual Jimbo. Nothing to add to it at all.

Although .. "So, all in all , he wasn't such a bad guy" .. says it all. !!

Any response from Jimbo , is nothing short of hilarious. :D :D :D .
It's taken me 20 minutes to contain my laughter , in order to respond.
I knew for certain, when I posted that Jimbo would be the first to reply .
As usual , a lot of waffle .
It was guaranteed that JamesB would dive in head first and support the tripe .

Jimbo .... Franco , whatever you think of him , defeated communism .
Full credit to him for that .
Do you seriously believe that if the commies had won the war , there would have been no bloodshed.......surely not .
Would the commies have looked after their own - the way Franco did with his ----who knows ?
You've got to stop this comedy - my sides are aching now .
By the way ... Winston Churchill liked Franco - that's good enough for me . :)

So go on then.

What is do funny about my post.

What are the inaccuracies.

What about it is waffle.

Rather than make personal comments about members try and just respond to the points I made about dictators and what I have posted about them that is incorrect.

Or are you trying to start all over again on this new forum.
You dont need to, there are two others you can keep trivialising on without bringing it on here or us it because selhurst and others on those forums will not rise to your baiting you are now starting it on here.
