Always used Catral train station because the parking is/was free that way you could get to Alicante for onward transfer. Alicante do a good pick up and park similar to the airport at the Railway station 7e per day

I hear what you're saying, but if you caught the train to Madrid, you wouldn't want the Madrid terminus to be miles outside Madrid in a suburb, would you? Similarly if we catch a bus into Torrevieja town from La Siesta, we wouldn't want to have to change at the new bus station or, almost as bad, have to sit on the bus in the new bus station for ten minutes, waiting for it to carry on into town.

I guess we'll have to hope the powers-that-be are sensible when re-drawing the routes and timetables.

The underground car park opposite the Alicante train station, not the one next to it, they are fairly reasonable.

Also if you have a ticket for the AVE train, local trains to get to Alicante are free.

Sheff_Blade I don't think it will affect the town bus service. They will still have their stops at Eras de la Sal or at Hotel Fontana. When they mooted this a few months ago there was to be a new service from the new bus station into the town centre and I presume some current town routes will include the bus station on their routes.
