I have just retired (again)from a company that does covid testing in clinics throughout the UK the strictest entry requirements were imposed bypaulja wrote: 29 Dec 2022 13:10 As cases rise in China, some countries are restricting travel, such as USA, Japan.
The UK has said it will not impose restrictions.
Is the UK being slow again. Should it put Chinese tourists above the health of its own population and the possible consequences on the NHS.
An example.
Almost half of the 212 passengers who arrived in Italy's Milan airport from China on Monday tested positive for Covid,

Re: China and covid
What has happened in China illustrates that lockdowns do not work. They have had a very strict lockdown and all it has done is build up a tsunami of infection. Keeping people isolated means that they do not build up the necessary immunities, so when they are exposed to viruses they're in trouble. Restrictions on incomming China flights are not needed, and would be counter-productive in the long run. We are all well vacinated and herd-immunity will handle new strains.
Re: China and covid
As far as I can see from interviews with the medical people the Chinese travelling from China to other countries are a far greater risk to China than the countries they are travelling to as they will bring back mutations which haven't as yet been seen in China. We either believe in the effectiveness of the vaccinations in giving us protection or we don't. We have just had millions of Ukranians settling throughout European countries and I haven't seen any increase in the virus as a result. People are at as much risk from their own populations rather than those coming into their country.

Re: China and covid
Looks like they have changed their minds and now they must test before they come here, I for one am glad, Chinas lockdown would have worked had they get a decent vaccine and made it more available, and the fact that millions are getting covid now is what causes new mutants and variants that maybe we haven't seen, so yes I am pleased they need a test.
Re: China and covid
All is not as it seems.
The tests will be voluntary and will not stop them coming in, nor would they have to isolate, despite advising us locals, to wear maks or no go out if we have a sniffle.

Re: China and covid
I have said all along covid came from a lab, despite the WHA saying it didn't
Now the USA are saying it probably did
