Re: Pension
Do you hear yourselves? The pound is losing value and that affects your income. Be thankful that the pound is stronger than the euro. I get the distinct feeling that many of you have a grievance with the Conservative party. Don’t fool yourselves, they are all the same. Tony Blair was “ new” labour and behaved more like a conservative. What about the lies he told about weapons of mass destruction? I’m surprised he puts his nose outside his door.
We’ve come through 18months of a pandemic. That’s 18 months of the government propping up businesses and lives. Everyone could see that something had to be done to pay back out debts and shore up our wonderful NHS. If we have to pay more, then we don’t have any choice. Boris Johnson didn’t know any of this was going to happen anymore than you or I knew The cost of living has started to go up drastically since we got out of lockdown. My grocery bill has greatly increased, the cost of electricity is due to go up considerably and goodness knows what else. We in the U.K. will be in for a rocky ride so we will have to tighten our belts. So far, very little seems to have increased here in Spain that I’ve noticed. Ok, a glass of wine is now €1.70, a gin & tonic €5.50 but compared to what we pay at home, there’s no comparison. Living here in Spain is so much cheaper than living in the U.K. OR Ireland.
People we know from home were over staying in their house in Playa Flamenca and experienced untold abuse and nastiness from expats living nearby. Suffice to say, they plan to sell up. When I heard this, I wasn’t in the least bit surprised because I have been the victim of nastiness from people on the Talkquesada forum. Why do people feel the necessity to be unkind. I’m a Christian and I follow the teachings of LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR. I don’t have to like them but it’s kinder to be civil . Life can be hard but if you have your health , food on the table and a roof over your head, consider yourself rich.
Cheers everyone.

I am sorry, but if you are a christian then you know not to tar everyone in spain with the same brush
I for one have never given abuse to any uk visitors to spain, i have family in the UK who are experiencing all the increases and hardship you mention, people who do this type of thing are petty minded morons and do not represent the majority in spain
As for any political opinions, it is everyones right to comment on their thoughts as we live in a democracy , supposedly
The way they came in too late with their pathetic covid plans cost the lives of a good proportion of the elderly, and every week they are hitting the poorer and least well off with their cuts and new taxes
Everyone knows they represent the more affluent , where have the rich suffered so much with covid ?
I am willing to bet some gained from it
As for tony blair i despised him ,and you are correct about what he did, he should never have been allowed to be prime minister, he was the devil incarnate
But its a tough one comparing tony blair to bumbling boris , one was and one is still incompetent
And there have been more scandals involving boris and his party than any other
I think if anyone in the UK is crazy enough to vote the tories back in power they need sectioning
When i see them foregoing their enormous pay rises and perks for the sake of the national debt then i might show
some sympathy , while they continue their onslaught on the poorer in society nobody will change my opinion
Yes i have complained about the exchange rate, when you are already being hit with pension cuts, and have one of the lowest pensions in europe, the last thing people living here want is the pound to drop, leaving you with even less
And dont be fooled by the prices in spain, i am expecting the government here to try to clawback some of the hundreds of billions lost because of the pandemic, then bills and food prices will start to escalate
I just hope they dont do it at the expense of the poor as in the UK

Re: Pension
Too much to reply to all that. But if they are all the same it is because the UK seem happy to vote in liars, cheats and corrupt politicians. The voters should not just blandly accept these people.
Many of the covid problems are the fault of Johnson and his cronies. The UK is an island and should have been in a good position to protect itself. The corruption has been evident for all to see. Brexit is one of the problems of price increases, another cockup by this crazy government.
If this seems hard well, accepting every disaster with a smile is also not the answer.... If people don' t complain nothing will change... unless you think everything is hunkey-dory at present in the Uk?
