Husband is 71 and went to renew his license on 11th September. He went to a designated testing centre in the middle of Torrevieja called Smart Salud. He took his soon to expire driving license, TIE, passport and padron (just in case they were all needed). Took the simulator driving test on the computer, had an eye test which was reading the letters on the wall (same as at the opticians) and answered a few health questions. Smart Salud sent all the information to DGT and issued a temporary driving license. This cost him ??? 35 euros....he is over 70 years old.
The very good news is that his new driving license arrived yesterday. A wait of less than 7 weeks and the license is valid until 2030...5 years.

Would highly recommend the service.
At 35 euros I would say it was competively priced.
