I am coming to Torrevieja for a 10 day house hunting holiday.

Car hire, bike hire etc.

Any info would be great.

Don't use Gold Car if you are hiring a car. They have a very bad reputation. I wouldn't go house hunting in August far too hot.

If one has money to throw away and takes out Excess waiver insurance, you're fine, otherwise you take a risk of being conned. Check the car THOROUGHLY before driving off! The car rental firms are all as crooked as each other. Some users will come on and say they've not had any problems but you might be the unfortunate one. 9 times out 10 they are all dodgy and I've used nearly all of them. AVIS are the worst! Good Luck.

When we were in Spain last week we used Coys. They asked us to phone when we were in the Arrivals Hall and said to meet them outside Costa Coffee. They picked us up in their 9 seater and drove us to the compound to collect the car. All very easy and efficient. On the return we left the car at their compound and they dropped us off at the airport.

The OP doesn't say whether he/she is looking for a holiday home or somewhere to live on a long-term basis. If the latter, my advice would be to look for a property during the period November to February. This will enable you to get a feel for area(s) you are interested in during the quieter months as many bars, restaurants, etc may close during the winter. Also, the sun is at a much lower elevation in winter and this will demonstrate the advantage of properties that are south facing. Good luck with your house hunt.
