Is this a scam site?

I received an SMS, supposedly from Correos, saying my packet was ready but I just had to pay 1.98€ by card or bank transfer. I am not expecting anything but it is a small amount to satisfy my curiosity. I do not wish to compromise my cards of bank details. Has anyone else seen this before, and is it a scam? The website is correospagos.com.

I'd be very wary. If you do a Whois lookup then the details don't look very official to me. It's only just been set up as far as I can see.

Thank you Sheff_Blade, I ought to have looked them up myself. It probably is phishing for bank and card details rather than collecting less than 2€ of everyone.

I would have thought that if you were not expecting any packages by Correos then it was obviously a scam.

Not necessarily, we have had things sent by friends and relatives that had incorrect postage and needed a supplement paying.

So how would they get your mobile number to send you an SMS ?? if they had a parcel for you.

Getting information like mobile numbers etc is - I am told -quite easy For example on the 16th March this year I took a phone call from ' someone' acting for lawyers in Madrid who were following up a court order saying that I had 9 mobile phones on contract from Vodaphone and I had not paid the bill totaling 5k .I have never been with Vodaphone so quite relaxed about it Having spoken to my accountant they told me that some companies sell of mobile phone numbers to allow cold calling Thats what could have happened here

The phone numbers are randomly computer generated just like the landline scam calls. They don't have your name just a random phone no. You will find it's a scam.

I never answer my personal mobile with my name, I ask them who they are calling, there is normally a silence as well before you are transferred. Biggest scammers are the town halls, went to my town hall further south, I knew the council tax had been increased by over €250 a year a while back, but whilst there last week they gave me four years back dated charges as well.
