Vigilante Brit Expat Families Forced To Patrol Costa Blanca Streets After Dozens Of Violent Muggings

So this was in today's Sun newspaper.

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/10600821/ ... -muggings/

Despite saying ".... violent muggings near Benidorm" and mentioning Costa Blanca, this article actually relates to problems 90 miles away from Benidorm in Los Alcazares, Murcia.

The Sun is partially quoting from the expat Spanish paper The Olive Press that unfortunately used Costa Blanca in their headline, and then referencing problems they have reported on in Benidorm and Magaluf in the past.

I can understand the residents feeling the need to do something, but not sure volunteers in high-vis jackets patrolling the streets is the solution to criminal activity.

Desperate measures by desperate people. But I think the situation could be exaggerated a bit for media purposes.
We all know muggings happen.

I think you are probably right about the exaggeration by the media, the fact that these events happened in Los Alcazares and they have managed to link in Benidorm and Magaluf in the same article.

The paper has probably got what they wanted, people like us talking about it.
