I saw this this on Spanish news last night and it's difficult to get my head around the way it was described, but it seemed the 9 year old daughter got into trouble and the father went into help her. The father then experienced problems in the pool so the 16 year old son went in to help his father and then for what ever reason he got into trouble.

An employee of the complex managed to get the 3 people out of the pool but he apparently struggled to exit the pool.

Police are probing whether there was a malfunction with the pool's suction/filter system.
