Cooking time: 10 minutes
Serves: Makes 1 strudel
One strudel, provides 366 cals, 10g fat (of which 3.5g saturates), 24g sugar and 1g salt per serving portion.
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp of water
- 1 medium-sized baking apple, washed and finely chopped
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp of granulated sugar/light brown/demerara and a little to sprinkle
- 2 tsp of mincemeat
- 1 large tortilla wrap
- 1 medium egg, beaten
Method
1. Preheat oven to 200°C/Fan 180°C Gas Mark 6.
2. Add the water, apple, cinnamon and sugar into a small pan and cook until the apple is soft.
3. Drain and mix with the mincemeat.
4. Fold the wrap into three sections and then open up - you will be able to see the middle section where you will put the filling.
5. Fold the wrap in half vertically.
6. Make a cut, about 2 fingers from the bottom of the wrap, from the fold line to the edge. Repeat using a finger as the width - you will get about 6 - 8 cuts - don't cut the top or bottom.
7. Unfold and egg wash the inside of the wrap and place the filling in the middle.
8. Fold in the top and bottom flaps. Fold the bottom left strip towards the top left corner. Fold the bottom right towards towards the top left corner.
9. Alternate until all the filling is enclosed then plait up the middle with the cut sides.
10. Egg wash the top and sprinkle with sugar then bake in the oven for 10 minutes until golden.
