Re: Proposed European super league
Apart from the club owners and football agents, I cannot see who else benefits. If the sanctions being talked about by FIFA and UEFA are implemented it will mean players making a decision between club or country.
The ESL, if it goes ahead, will be extremely popular in the Far East. A football fan in Japan was commenting this morning on television that fans from that region are only interested in watching the big European clubs play each other. The weekly domestic fixtures such as those in the Premier League are of little interest unless it is two big clubs playing each other.

My understanding is that club ownership law in Germany means that fans hold the majority voting rights at a club, and they were not in favour of the ESL.Army of stars wrote: 21 Apr 2021 16:47 It appears it'sall crumbled away i don't undestand how my team (Spurs) were included whilst PSG and Bayern Munich were not.
I believe the UK Government are looking at the German club model as one possible way to rein in the club owners in the Premier League, although I am not sure how practical that is as I would have thought club owners would want some financial compensation (who pays ?) if they have to give up majority ownership in their club/business.

Re: Proposed European super league
I seem to remember something similar at the inception of the premier league around 1992,but the influx of foreign owners started and has continues unabated and i guess it was only a matter of time before a super league was mooted
