Gas bottle advice

#1

Post: # 21802Post Alf Tupper »

When we Bought our house 16 years ago it already had an orange butane gas bottle. Once this ran out we didn't replace it, we just relied on the electric hob as we were only over here on occasional holidays. Now that we are spending more time over here we would like to replace the gas bottle. Can anybody advise me as to what I need to do to obtain and connect a new bottle.
Thanks
Alf

No A,
Its only if you are on a contract with repsol you might need paperwork
Just take the empty but make sure you secure the full one in the car, not in the front though
The guardia could check and fine you if it is not in the back and if not secured

On the orange pipe that you have it will have a date stamped on it in black. If it is 5 years or more since that date you need to replace both the hose and the blue regulator. This should cost no more than 15€ from your nearest feretería. You are allowed to carry upto two used/full bottles if firmly secured in your boot.

Thanks again for the advice. The orange hoses are indeed well out of date! What is the blue regulator and can I buy it at the same place as the hoses? Sorry for all the questions but any recommendations for firmly securing the bottle in the boot?
Thanks again

To answer both queries , i think the regulator is what you attach to the top of the gas bottle
I dont know of any specific law that says this needs changing after a certain date , but it obviously needs looking after and ensuring it fits tight otherwise it could leak
I have never personally had a contract so never signed any paperwork , i buy my own and make sure the pipes are replaced when needed
