Information: Orihuela Suspends Collection Of Aid For Ukraine

Callosa de Segura have also suspended collection of aid following the announcement by the Generalitat de Valencia.

Not seen any notification that Torrevieja has suspended aid collection at this time.

I think what happened was everything was bundled up together rather than being sorted into the various categories which wasn't much use to those working on the ground . No point in sending lots of clothes to a place that needs medicine and food. So I think they are trying to put a bit of order on things.

I know the media have been reporting that sports halls in Poland are piled high with donations of items that are not required by the refugees. Unfortunately they have also been inundated with donations that are needed but are in an unacceptable condition to be used - soiled clothing and bedding was sited as reoccuring examples.

It seems to be a modern phenomenon - there was not a shortage of a lot of items only the means to distribute them. When you consider the cost of the fuel needed to get items from Spain/U.K./Germany etc it probably far outweighs the value of the items. Far better to give money to a charity actually working in the area and in the U.K. if your contribution is gift aided it is increased by the Government.
