€500K is a bit cheap for a golden visa. Why not make it €1.5 million.

Reading the article that figure was set back in 2013 so possibly €500K at that time was more relative for that time period, but would now be considered too little ? Was it about 2013 when Spain re-started building again in earnest following the property crash, so another view could be it was deliberately set low to attract property buyers.Bee wrote: 17 Feb 2023 10:13 €500K is a bit cheap for a golden visa. This bill seems to only affect those who apply for golden visa when investing in real estate, so I assume that the other types of investment people can make to obtain a golden visa in Spain will remain unchanged, so will do little to address the ongoing concerns of the source of investment money entering Spain.
As I understand it the UK last year scrapped their golden visa scheme entirely citing concerns over origins of monetary investments. I believe the Republic of Ireland may also be addressing their golden visa scheme requirements ?

The Irish one was scrapped without any notice.
