A Place iin the Sun
A Place iin the Sun
It appears A Place in the Sun shown on Wednesday was a repeat from 2021. The couple it turned out had no money to buy anything. What infuriated viewers was how unrealistic their demands were. They got a roasting on line the first time the programme was shown and again after Wednesdays show.

Re: A Place iin the Sun
It was obvious that they were pair of time wasters the first time, so why show the idiots a second time . !!
Re: A Place iin the Sun
When this programme first started it was informative, and those looking for a property generally seem interested. As the years have gone on, the "prospective buyers" seem more interested in just being on camera as opposed to seriously looking at the properties.
Re: A Place iin the Sun
People who want others to think that they
are doing so well, that they can afford a holiday home
in Spain. Sad. !

It's going to be hard for Bullies to stop what they are so good at.
Re: A Place iin the Sun
It just goes to show how little Ch 4 vet the people who appear on their program to make sure that they are genuine buyers in a position to make an offer if needs be.
And the section at the end where they sit round a table with glasses of white wine and they decide on a property and want to put in an offer is a complete farce and obviously heavily staged.
The agent selling the house for the owners is always instantly available on the phone, as is the owner of the house who normally lives in the UK, when the agent calls them with Spain with details of the offer.
A deal is done within minutes on the phone and the glasses of wine on the table are hardly touched.
Many of us know that choosing and buying a property here can take months and agreeing on a price can take just as long.
I strongly suspect that a deal has already been agreed upon on and an offer accepted and that would have taken a lot longer than three minutes on the phone, and that bit round the table at the end is just a charade, and I doubt if anyone is at end of the phone to the TV presenter.
Just call me a cynic.

I agree BB. I thought you had to show you actually had the money be it a mortgage or own cash. Yes the agents and owners are always only 5 minutes away just waiting by their phone for a call. Probably can't get genuine people to appear any more. I would like them to go back and visit all the people who supposedly bought. Now that would be what people would be interested in.

They don't always tell the perspective buyers about
Community charges either.
I've noticed (not on the program, but in real life) that a lot of sellers agree to leave white goods
And when the buyer moves in, it's not there !
I don't trust the agents either.

Re: A Place iin the Sun
Well it seem that many applying to appear on the program are looking for an all expenses paid holiday courtesy of Ch 4.
It's the same sort of program that flies people out to Australia who have expressed a wish to move there, complete with tear jerking vidoes from the relevant families, all expenses paid of course.
Only to be told at the end of the program that Rodney and Sheila Gruntfuttock from Nuneaton, and their two children also called Rodney and Sheila, would miss Granny Gruntfuttocks bread pudding too much to move to the other side of the world.

Re: A Place iin the Sun
I have to take back what I said. I am watching sun sea and selling houses on Channel 4 now on a return visit to people who bought in 2019 Keith and Linda a retired couple . They bought for €123000. They made a fabulous job of the house.

No need to take anything back because I'm sure many people bought property on A Place in the Sun thanks to the program and are still very happy.
