Torrevieja Population Exceeds 100,000

Figures released today show that the number of registered inhabitants in Torrevieja stands at 100,421.

For those into statistics, breakdown of the 100,421:
  • 50,477 (50.26%) are Spanish and 49,944 (49.74%) are of international origin from 122 countries
  • 48,887 (48.68%) are men, while 51,534 (51.32%) are women

I suppose it's no surprise that Ukraine is heading the list. Spain has surprisingly few Ukranian refugees at 186,000 approx. In comparison with Ireland who has taken in over 100,000 at this stage and still coming.

I am surprised at the low number of Irish - I would have expected more.
It would be interesting to see a similar table for Orihuela residents

There was never a big number of Irish living permanently in Torrevieja. As you say Orihuela Costa would be more popular. Of course there could be a few living under the radar and not bothered to register.
