You are supposed to apply at the nearest Designated Spanish Consulate to your home in UK

I presume you are an EU Passport holder if you are staying for 4 months. In which case you would fill in the Modelo Ex18 and make an appointment at nearest Policia Nacional/extranjera office to register your presence and get a Certificate of Residence which lasts for 2yrs and is renewed. If its straightforward you don't need an Abogado.
