Hello.
I am about to replace my Sky+ box with a Sky Q box here in Spain. I have been told that Sky are to reduce its footprint in Europe, in other words less channels on offer. Has anybody further details or advice on this. Thank you.

As I need to replace the cable from my dish to my satellite box, I went to Eurotele in Torrevieja and this is the information that they gave me. How true I don't know. I would like further info if possible. Sky have a contract with satellite providers until 2029. Are we moving away from satellite tv to streaming and Internet tv.? I would appreciate any info before I go yo the expense of changing the cable.

Is there a reason you are changing the cable? Is it just the cable or are you changing the LNB?
Ask this guy and he will give you any information you want .

Hi Bee. The existing cable is the old single core cable which will not suit the Sky Q box, it was fine for the + box.
The new cable is two core to allow for horizontal and vertical signals (I am not an expert) I also need to change the LNB which Sky supply with the new Q box.
I have been in touch with the satandpcguy.com, very helpful

We brought our own Sky+ box with us when we moved here 25 years and we have .2.9 mt dish which has had progressively got bigger over the years.
At first and also had a Sky package. The Skybox packed up and the installer TV Technology didn't supply Sky+ boxes only free to air but put us in touch with an intermediary in the UK who courier one out which he did,he also sent us a Sky card for the basic package which we needed to record.
We pay him a yearly fee for managing our Sky account as we can't contact them ourselelves.
We had a problem with BBC1 a little while ago and completely lost it and when we called TV Tech out to see if it was the LNB it cured itself but he was trying to hardsell IPTV but we preferred the dish and simple one recording on the Sky+ Box.
Where are you buyng your Q box ?
I contacted the company in the UK this morning see if they know anything and I received this reply...
Hi
No, I’ve not heard that. It sounds like an unfounded rumour to me.
Kind regards

Hi, thank you for the info. I have always brought my Sky card from Ireland to Spain. I pair my card with my box here in Spain. Very easy to do and never had a problem until late last year when my card decided not to pair, in other words Sky were telling me I had to upgrade to a Q box. The card is not interchangeable from + to Q boxes. The box, LNB and installation is all free. The + box is now almost a thing of the past. So this has left me in the crux I am now in, but I am confident enough with the info I have to go ahead and renew the cable.
