Just wondered whether anyone else has had problems since Facebook started encrypting messages, and any working solutions ?

Apparently someone thought I was ignoring them because I have not responded to month old messages, but I have not seen them/cannot see them.

Last week I responded promptly to a message, and apparently the other person replied, promptly to. The message I sent has disappeared from my side, and I did not see the reply I was suppose to have received.

Some messages I have sent, that I can see, are showing as having been unread, however I know the recipients have seen them.

I have had issues for months, probably hoped that they would resolve themselves, but no such luck. Tried no end of tutorials that have appeared online for those suffering similar problems, but no success.

Any ideas or suggestions will be gratefully received. Thank you.

is there a password protection enabled?

I solved same problem on mine by reinstalling the new version of Messenger

There is a 6-digit code I have to enter to be able to access FB messages. This code was something I had to set when FB brought in end-to-end encryption, as opposed to a login style verification code that is received via an SMS etc.

Thank you for your suggestion Fred. I did try that on both laptop and phone, but unfortunately I did not have the same succcessful outcome as you.

with that 6 digit code it is possible that you could be losing messages if the browswer/app is not in sync (from personal experience) so I would check that and clear the caches on both app and see that clears it up as well (granted that you might have to put in the 6 digit code in )

As far as I can remember Fred, I have never received an 8 digit code from Messenger. The 6 digit code/pin that I set, was set through Messenger on the FB website, accessed from a laptop.
