Unfortunately It was only a matter of time. The new law starting in January regarding having civil liability insurance will be largely ignored as the premium will probably be more than the value of the E scooter.

Wearing helmets is only mandatory which is complete madness, yet it's compulsory to wear them on a bicycle.

I thought you couldn't ride an e-scooter on the N332.

There has been an explosion of e scooter use around blue lagoon , especially in the evening, and they are still riding two to a scooter without helmets
I think people are using them to get to and from pubs or restaurants, they probably think it is ok to drink and drive on one and will be immune from getting stopped , unlike a car
I have also noted people using them in the early hours of the morning, someone passed my house on the road at 4.am the other day , ok , they could have been on an early shift for work or coming home from a nightclub, but it also crossed my mind burglars could be using them for a fast getaway , who knows
But this accident doesn't surprise me, i am amazed there has not been more , they streak in and out of traffic and junctions at speed without looking properly and some i see no sign of having speed limiters fitted
