Social distancing
I see social distancing is now one and half metres.
So up comes all the blue tape and all the other measures put in to place for two metre distancing.
Whas is the point for half a metre !!

Re: Social distancing
With the reduction of distance the risk increases: this is the OST recent study
Reducing physical distancing advice from 2 metres to 1 metre could double the risk of coronavirus infection, according to the most comprehensive study to date.
The research, part-funded by the World Health Organization (WHO) and published in the Lancet, will add to the debate in the UK about whether the 2-metre rule should be reduced.

Re: Social distancing
The politicians have got to bite the bullet somehow or watch the economy wither and die!
That is why I propose a compromise to give the economy a chance, for a lesser risk than full 1 metre reduction.

Re: Social distancing
It was either Consum or Mercadona I was in earlier this week where they were already operating to 1.5 metre.
Primark at Zenia Boulevard has an interesting arrangement. You queue outside obeying the 2 metre rule using the floor markers, you use the hand sanitizers at entrance and then once inside social distancing goes straight out the window due to people and store layout, and is not enforced unless you have to queue to pay for something where 2 metre distancing markers are in place.

Re: Social distancing
There's no point in having floor markings on the floor in the aisles in Primark because it full of dropped clothes !!
The idea of wearing masks in places like Primarks etc is that its practically impossible to social distance, so there's little point in trying to implement it.

Surely though Primarks should have made some effort to adapt their floor layout to try and enable social distancing ? Whether it worked would obviously be up to individuals obeying social distancing, but at least the measures would have been there. The idea of being separated 2 metres apart queuing to enter the store and paying in the store is pointless if you have been within centimetres of others looking at the same clothing rack even with a mask on.

Re: Social distancing
The whole concept of shopping in places like Primark etc and any clothing store is rummaging around on clothes racks, what do you if somebody suddenly appears from the other side of the clothes rack .. move back to the required distance, or wait for them to do it.Carl wrote: 12 Jun 2020 15:56I agree on your point about clothes on the floor.JamesB wrote: 12 Jun 2020 11:42 There's no point in having floor markings on the floor in the aisles in Primark because it full of dropped clothes !!

The whole situation is ludicrous and it`s much better to follow the Governments directive to wear a mask if you can't practice social distancing and that applies to any store.
That's common sense to me and it allows people to have some normality back in their lives.
Re: Social distancing
Why anybody would want to go to Primark is beyond me, I've been once and it looked like an old fashioned jumble sale, just a big pile of tat.

Re: Social distancing
Each to our own.
Some people like old fashioned jumble sales, and nearly everything is made in China now so why pay top money when you can buy the same in Primark for a lot less.
I know many people who shop there ,us included .. We also shop a lot in Massimo Dutti ... So what does that tell you.
