Spain To Reopen Borders To EU Countries On 21 June

Up until yesterday Spain was still maintaining it would be 1 July, so I wonder what changed ?

So now on the 21 June, not only will people in Spain be able to move freely around the country, but the country's borders will be open to receive external travellers. Why allow the 2 to happen on the same day ? Surely free movement within Spain should have been implemented first to see how the country coped ?

That's great news. Comm valenciana enters Phase 3 tomorrow so you can visit all 3 provinces of the Community. Looks like the week after you can go anywhere witin Spain. Outside dining areas can open with 100% occupancy. Social distance goes to 1.5mtrs where possible. Comm Swimming Pools can have 75% occupancy and so on. This is the official BOE http://www.dogv.gva.es/resultat-dogv?si ... 0/4499&L=1

Oh dear on reading Informacion I see it's the Schengen area minus Portugal. Unfortunately Ireland and UK are outside the Schengen area so will have to wait until 1st July.

Where do you get 1st July from for UK.

I have not seen that confirmed anywhere.
Be great if it is.

There seems to be some conflict in the reporting by the various media outlets, some refer to the border restrictions being lifted on 21 June for the Schengen areas, and others for the Schengen area and EU States - which would include Ireland and the UK.

Portugal requested that their border with Spain remain closed.

It`s being stated that Pedro Sanchez is in the process drawing up a list of `safe' non EU countries that will be allowed into Spain after 1 July.

Apparently the USA is a strict no no and it will be interesting to see how the UK fare. Benidorm' s mayor is suggesting 10 July.

The Spanish Foreign Minister confirmed today that it is Schengen area and EU States that will be allowed from 21 June, so from that date travellers can arrive from Ireland and UK.

There is a couple of caveats specific for UK travellers. Firstly the Spanish Government have said they will reassess this date should the Covid19 situation change in the UK. Secondly, travellers returning to the UK are currently subject to a 14 day quarantine period - this is due to be reviewed at the end of June.
