Torrevieja Health Area has the lowest number of cases of Corona virus at 75 per 100,000. Hopefully New Year celebrations will not cause it to increase. O

People were braced for the rebound in numbers after the bridging holiday at the beginning of December, but the next couple of weeks could once again see rises and falls in daily reported figures following the restriction relaxation at Christmas, and the impending similar relaxations for New Year and Three Kings.

Unfortunately complacency seems to have crept in, may be because of the festive time of the year or possibly in the knowledge that vacinations would begin in Spain on 27 December. People no longer seem to be following social distancing guidelines, nor the use of hand sanitisers at entrance to stores - unless a store employee is there to ensure people use it.

There was an article from a Dr today who is very cross because he said it will take 44 months to vaccinate the Spanish population because of the amount of vaccines purchased by the government.

I am not surprised by those timescales Bee, and even if the vaccines were readily available I doubt the organisation would be place to administer the jabs any quicker.

My understanding was that the EU did an initial bulk purchase of the Pfizer vaccine, and that was shared between EU member states pro-rota based on population and thereafter each country took responsibility for procuring the required number to vaccinate the remainder of the population.

The first Pfizer vaccination in spain took place on Sunday, but since that time logistics problems have been reported. RTVE were reporting Monday morning that vaccinations had been suspended at several health centres after queries in the paperwork logs accompanying the vaccines raised concerns that the vaccines had not been correctly stored at the required temperature whilst in transit. Pfizer then failed to deliver any vaccines to Spain (and 7 other countries) yesterday after they too found anomalies in temperature control in their distrubution process.
