I've got one Haier and three Panasonic. The Panasonics seem very noisy when running compaired to the Haier, luckily the neighbours are some distance away.

Just something else I have thought of, ensure that the a/c unit is not directly wired into the electrics in the property and you have a plug you can pull out of the wall.

I had an a/c unit installed many years ago and the installer thought they did a neat job by not having any wires showing. When the circuit board in the unit when wrong it would automatically turn itself on/off at anytime, would pump out unregulated hot or cold air and there was no way to quickly turn the machine off.

Could you not just turn it off from Remote.?

Someone mentioned Giatsu anyone ever use them or know anybody who does.

Once the circuit board went the a/c unit became unresponsive to input from the remote control. There was a reset button under the front panel where the filters are, but that had no affect.

I would not recommended Giatsu. Mine is noisy also on heat when it reaches the desired temperature it to off and you have to wait quite a while before it comes back on.
I bought a unit from Carrefour which I prefer. There own make.
I think the best make is Mitsubishi heavy industries. Very quiet.

We had 2 new Giatsu units fitted last year. Very efficient, and not noisy at all.
