Fair enough Freddo . I wasn't 100% sure .
The first house I bought , when I came to Spain , was on the perimeter of Torreta 3 , right across from the old railway line ( now cycle track ), and back then , there were still a few sleepers still in the ground on parts if it .
Obviously, they were removed , when the track was being constructed.
It was a neighbour of mine that told me about the salt train.
Unless , that was still using the track , after the passenger service had stopped ?

Yes the passenger side was discontinued but the salt transportation still carried on

That doesn't explain why there was a railway crossing next to ambifuego. It doesn't tie up with a line from monte hello to San luis lakeside. It's in the wrong place. I would love to see an old map of logs montesinos.

of course it does tie up, it was the railway line to the saltworks
If you go to the Town Hall at Los Montesinos you can ask to look at an old map

I will do. The metal cross near ambifuego looks to be too far over to join up near the garden centre. Did the railway line follow the main road from quasada. On the low montesinos side.

The railway line crossed the Montesinos road near Valentines garden centre then curved to the lane where Ambifugo is there was a level crossing at the top of the lane that intersects with the road that runs down to the roundabout where the Lemon Tree road is , The line then carried on through what is now LA Herrada on to Lo Crispin then across what is now the AP7 motorway at Montebello then through to Albatera , if you look on a satellite image on Google Earth it is quite easy to follow the route
