chloro rapido granulado from leroy merlin
chloro rapido granulado from leroy merlin
I have an 8x5 pool that is starting to go green and need to shock it
I have the 2 kg pack from leroy merlin but am struggling to understand how much to put in
Translating it seems to suggest 250 grammes to shock and then 125 grammes per day but dont want to put too much or too little in
If anyone with pool experience can help i would be grateful
thanks

Vacuumed the algae from the bottom of the pool and it doesnt look too bad , mixed 250 gm of the chlorine and put in pool and set the pump to run tonight so hopefully it will clear
I had the pump switched off over the winter so expected some adverse reaction, now back on daily
Lucky i just did it before the rain started

Hi Jimmy, if you put too much in it will reduce to the required level if you have the pool cover off. When I open my pool up for the first time I hoover to waste as the filter can't really cope with all the months worth of dust on the bottom.if the algae is in one place such just spread the granules in that area and leave it in that area for a while before moving. The filter will reduce the chlorine if left on. Too much is better than too little but don't swim in it if course. Get your PH levels right as well.

As you recommended i always hoover to waste especially if there is algae present so as not to contaminate the filter and pipes
I dont use a pool cover anymore as i found it too much trouble to keep it clean , it was old anyway and starting to disintegrate so i got rid of it
The pump on timer tonight so i hope it will be clearer in the morning, and i also use jolly gel to get a sparkling finish
I dont normally have any problems leaving the pump off over winter, but this time i had a large oil slick like effect covering the pool from the yellow powder deposit everyone was getting from the sahara sand blowing over here , i dont think that helped trying to keep the pool clear

I foubd, last year by keeping the chlorine levels really high helped to keep the water clear. I always run the pump for an hour a day during the winter.
By the way mercadona well the 5 in 1 tablets, about 22 euro. I have found 5 in 1 really good.

Re: chloro rapido granulado from leroy merlin
Many years ago I found the multiple tablets had only a small amount of chlorine in so I do use chlorine only tablets mainly. I think my pool is about 76,000 LTRs. On my third winter pool cover now, normally last about 7 years. Over winter I put a lot of chlorine in and it is OK being shut for September to May. The cover keeps the leaves out.and the chlorine lasts much longer. The summer cover stops so much evaporation and keeps it a lot warmer up in the mountains where my other place is further south. Tiles are coming off now, could do with it being retired. The only potential mistake I had when having this built was having the pump Room below.ground, it is about 8ft deep and you have to go down on a ladder, in a few years time I might slip as I get older. After the winter when you go down in the pump room there are about 100 spiders down there. I have got used to that over the years.

I changed our pool over to the salt system five years ago and it was the best thing I ever did.
The pool had remained crystal clear since and is great to swim in.

The oil slick effect is most likely from Cypress pollen that is abundant at this time of year. When I brush against our hedge the pollen comes off in clouds like smoke. It is so fine it sits on top of the water.
The Sahara dust is heavier, so it gets into the water and makes it look cloudy.
