Torrevieja to construct eighteen tower blocks of up to 29 floors

Hi, I was really looking forward moving to Torrevieja at the end of March, but now I have concerns after reading this article.

I doubt if this will ever happen, but if you're not happy about moving to Torrevieja because of the tower blocks, Guardamar del Segura is a good alternative.

There's no 29 story tower blocks being planned there.

In fact, before we moving here twenty five years ago, Guardamar was on the top of the list, but we wanted to start a business and Torrevieja was experiencing a building boom and so it was the logically and financially the right thing to do to buy a property in Torrevieja.

If you need any assistance of finding a reputable property company to rent or buy from when you move to Torrevieja at the end March, I can PM you recommendations of reputable companies that I have dealt with over the last twenty five years.

At least you have a preview of what is to come. Better than buying and a week later the bulldozers move on for 5 years. It could be said that there is confidence in the area which has to be good.
Also this area is bigger than just Torrevieja, there are many lovely areas within easy reach of Torrevieja if that is what you want..

Don't be put off, the area is a great place to live.

Are these blocks social housing or upmarket apartments? Why on earth do they want such high rise buildings? Utterly out of keeping with anything along this coastline. There are some fairly tall apartments along the N332 going towards Mar Menor and they look far too tall to appeal to most people. 29 stories is unappealing and aesthetically unattractive.

Yes you are right, so I can figure out to which areas I should not move to. I'm only wondering that it seems nobody else has any concerns, having 18 tower blocks along the seafront??

The last paragraph in the article you refer to is the most important. None of the developments can go ahead without the approval of Costas. We already have had developments stopped by Costas like the proposed Balneario on Torrevieja Lake and other buildings have been demolished which contravened the Ley de Costas like the restaurant on the beach at Molino Blanco and just two weeks ago one on Torrevieja seafront El Tintero which has been there a lifetime. A lot of properties on the sea front are on licence for a number of years and no works can be carried out on them like extending them or raising their height. The market in La Mata was also relocated on the orders of Costas. So they do have teeth and don't back down when they issue an order.

No need for concerns because it will never happen and not all are 'along the seafront' anyway,if any.

Thank you so much for the information. I thought it is a little bit strange 18 tower blocks are a lot, so quite happy
and look forward moving to Torrevieja. By the way seems there are living some nice people
