Meeting up
Meeting up
Hiya to all . I have just moved to Torrevieja and feeling a little bit lost, because I don't know anybody here. I would love to meet up with people for a chat.
I'm living in a temporary accommodation at present and would like to explore the area before deciding where I want to live, so would love to meet people from around town center, but Torreblanca, La Mata and La Zenia too. Thank you in advance.

Re: Meeting up
I used to organise forum meetings on .co.uk years ago at various venues, The Emerald Isle was a favourite place.
It was good putting names to faces and in some cases settling scores, but a good time was had by all.
But that was in it's heyday and even Gary the Admin turned up and nobody knew who he was because he just picked a members name.
One present member on here who is a fairly regular poster
... was slagging Gary off, not knowing that it was Gary he was speaking to, and all these later, I haven't the heart to tell him.
But thankfully any criticism that Gary was in earshot of, was fairly constructive rather than abusive.
Of course I was sworn to secrecy so I have not said anything.
But unfortunately, social media, like Facebook, has had a big impact on ex-pat forums, but I still think they provide a valuable service, although the days of twenty odd members turning up for coffee and cake, or something stronger are long over, but I still have fond memories of happier times, and even Kevin Tyler was quite moderate.. politically

Re: Meeting up
Most local newspapers have ads for joining various groups in various places depending on your interests.
Of course you have found a virtual group right here..

You are not just judged by the company you keep, but the company you keep away from.
Re: Meeting up
The problem with a virtual group is that you can't meet face to face, and in some cases punch it if it ever turned up at a meeting.

Maybe some faces look better on a forum...Brandyboy wrote: 09 Apr 2024 14:52 The problem with a virtual group is that you can't meet face to face, and in some cases punch it if it ever turned up at a meeting.![]()

Re: Meeting up
I’m sorry you had such a negative reaction to your suggestion of meeting up.
We’re here at the moment in Torreblanca and if you are close by , please call. Send a message and hopefully I’ll read it and reply.
Best wishes,
Rosemary.
