A man mysteriously lies face down in a field, deceased, and wearing a backpack. A few moments before his death, he became aware of his approaching demise. However, there were no objects of importance in the field nor on him or in his backpack.

He was not killed by a person or an animal, and he was perfectly healthy and not ailed in any way. He did not die of old age, stroke, or of any health condition or allergy. He was also not killed by a lightning strike or any other act of God.

So, how did he end up dying and how did he know it would happen ?

The man was skydiving and his parachute failed, therefore explaining how he knew of his death moments before it happened.
