Ensuring safety on our streets!
This morning, our Torrevieja Local Police officers deployed a special operation to check documentation, alcohol, and drugs on Avenida Monge y Bielsa. These preventative measures are part of our ongoing commitment to strengthening road safety and preventing risky driving behavior.
Here are the results of the operation:
23 vehicles checked.
2 drivers investigated for alleged offenses against road safety (for exceeding the legal blood alcohol limit).
5 administrative citations for driving under the influence of alcohol.
1 citation for driving without mandatory insurance.
1 citation for having an expired or failed vehicle inspection (ITV).
1 citation for exceeding vehicle passenger limits.
3 vehicles impounded.
The Local Police will continue carrying out these preventative checks at various locations throughout the municipality. Our sole objective is to ensure smooth and safe traffic flow, minimizing behaviors that endanger residents.

I assume the ' 5 administrative citations for driving under the influence of alcohol' meant that although they weren't over the limit it was obvious that they had had a tipple or two at breakfast. !
