Imo politicians are like social workers. There are good and bad ones, but sadly the bad far outnumber the good. If you are lucky enough to find a good one they can be absolutely brilliant.

.
Crummy do you think you could name an absolutely brilliant UK politician?
It's a while back but I knew Alister Burt. He came to our place pretty often. I am still in touch with him occasionally.

He used to say "people should vote.. Tory, Labour , Liberal, Independent anything...but vote... people all over the word are dying to have the right to vote."... I have never forgotten that.

He used to take elderly people to The Houses of Parlianent to show them round, he took slide shows to old peoples' homes to entertain the residents and drive them to voting stations.

I dare say he is not perfect, (who is) but I found him a genuine guy.

A decent man no doubt but absolutely brilliant? That’s a stretch. I see no one on the UK political scene in any party who even remotely deserves the tag, absolutely brilliant. What a shame that is.

Just because someone does not see anyone that is brilliant does not mean there are none.
Maybe more people should look for positives in life than negatives.

Yes, but whatever the question, Labour (Starmer & Rayner) are not the answer.

You can trace the start of teh real demise to the Blair/Brown axis of evil with Campbell & Mandleson pulling the strings.

Illegal wars, freedom of movement, more PPE hospitals than the Tories, devolved goverment - all have had distasterous consequences for the UK, and Starmer will just increase the problems.

I take it you mean PFI hospitals, a disaster I agree.
Of course Labour are not the answer. They think they can finance everything out of scrapping non-dom status and adding VAT to tuition fees. We are less than one year out from a General Election and outside of those two measures what are their policies?
For me the demise of the UK started well before Brown and Blair, we should ask ourselves how that duo gained a 179 seat majority in 1997, it wasn’t because their Tory predecessors had performed so brilliantly during the previous 18 years. Certainly the electorate thought they had been a disaster.
So here we are, a choice between the Tories who are a complete indisciplined rabble, unfit to govern and a Labour Party that has no policies, probably equally divided but making a good job of hiding it until the gloves come off.
The real truth is that voters will run blindly into the arms of Starmer and Rayner for one reason, they have nowhere else to run. There’s the rub. God help us!!
