The article says " 'monitoring' task a difficult one." - I can imagine that it's an easier thing to announce, rather than practice.

I was not surprised that Madrid residents had stayed on after their summer holiday in Andalucia, simply because I read in the local Spanish media that the same was happening in Torrevieja.

The article in the local press carried an interview with a retired Madrid couple who had decided to stay on after their usual summer break in Torrevieja because they thought they would be safer here than going back to Madrid. When asked how long they intended to remain in Torrevieja, they basically said they had not even consider when they would return to Madrid.

It was headlines in the papers last week that the Mayors of Torrevieja, Alicante and Benidorm said people from Madrid were very welcome and they hoped they would come and base themselves in the towns while working from home or retired as the businesses in the areas needed them.

I didn't realise that Bee, but have now found the article that covers it.
