Olive press report

Post: # 13958Post Rosiemac »

Just been reading that the Expats who went back to the U.K. for Christmas are being blamed for bringing the new variant of covid back with them. Apparently , the virus is spreading everywhere. So glad that we non residents aren’t being blamed this time. Hallelujah

What the Valencian Vice President seemed to overlook was that anyone entering Spain from the UK by sea or air had to provide proof of a negative covid test.

Oh, interesting. Well, how do you explain it then? Was it the people who drove to Spain? Did the Spanish national have to provide a covid test result? I must admit that it never crossed my mind about the covid tests. Amazing. You should all be up in arms.

I wish I could explain it Rosie, but unfortunately I cannot. People returning to Spain from the UK, whether they were a Spanish national or expat resident had to provide proof of a negative covid test. France imposed the same restriction on people entering France from the UK, so anyone travelling to Spain by road from the UK via France would have needed to provide proof of a negative test to enter France. France also require people to quarantine for 7 days on arrival.

This virus is so unpredictable and unique i would be willing to predict it sometimes evades testing
For example we know it can survive on any surfaces for days, on clothing or belongings, paper plastic etc, so they can test the person but these other accompaniments are not tested and could be covered in the virus ready to spread to anyone in contact with them after arrival
Just an idea
