Been several instances of vehicles travelling in the wrong direction on the AP-7 in recent years in this area, but from what I can remember that has been attributed to the drivers entering the dual carriageway by taking the off slip. For whatever reason the driver on this occasion got to the La Zenia tolls turned around and travelled 20km against the flow of traffic until he crashed into oncoming vehicles in San Javier.

Well to be thankful for small mercies only the driver of the vehicle which caused the accident was killed.
