Not sure Fred how this wage compares to others, although I would have thought that if they were comfortable with putting the wage in the advert then it must be as good or even better than comparable establishments offer on the Orihuela Costa.

Just seen a thread Fred (see what I did there 8- !) ) online - €6 per hour is what is being touted as the rate being offered for waiting staff generally on the Orihuela Costa, with a chef at €8 - €8.50 per hour. Shortage of both on the Orihuela Costa leading to reduction in opening hours of some establishments.

€6 for a student or a retiree looking for some pocket money, possibly ?

The shortage of staff may be a short term issue, irrespective of the hourly rate. Some have taken temporary contract jobs with the likes of Mercadona or Alcampo for the summer, but will probably need to revert back to waiting/cooking jobs when those temporary contracts end - unless of course the supermarkets offer them permanent employment and then the shortage will continue in the hospitality sector.
