Quiron Hospital - Torrevieja

#1

Post: # 30212Post Carl »

I have looked at Google reviews which seems to paint a mixed picture of the hospital over the past couple of months, and just wondered if anyone on the forum has any personal experiences of using the Quiron Hospital recently ?

Thanks in advance.

My friends husband had covid last year and lots of other serious health issues. He was only 7 stone when he came out of the hospital, he was about 6 ft tall. He wasn't fed properly and his wife wasn't allowed in. His poor wife spent weeks trying to build him back up when he got home. He died last year from his other health issues.

On reflection I think it was the other hospital.

Ann I would say it was Torrevieja Hospital because it has gone rapidly down hill since the Ribera Salud contract to run the hospital expired and it went back into public/communidad admin. I have always seen positive reports from Quiron Hospital.

According to Google reviews, it has a very mixed bag of peoples experiences. Ranging from excellent to dire, dire being, having to be transferred to the "other hospital" because of being overdosed with medication!

We have been to Quiron a few times in the last six months. Twice for different personal things and once with a friend. Each time it was a good experience, in one case completely life changing for the better...

If you can pay, then I would pay Quiron.

My wife has had several operations at Quiron Salud and and I have been for minor things like MIR scans and Xrays and other things that I can't remember now, although I did pull my shoulder weight lifting once after ten sessions of physio I was right as rain.

We have never had any problems ( except for parking ) and have always found the staff and treatment first class, although it takes a while to learn and get used to the system
We have private medical insurance and have had it since we moved here, which I think at the time was a requirement for Residencia if you did'nt qualify for the National Health here, and you only qualified if you were in receipt of state pension, which of course we weren't. Correct me if I am wrong.

Touching on the other hospital, a few ago weeks ago we were at some friends in Los Balcones having a few drinks when one of them started to have what I knew was a heart attack.
I immediately called an ambulance explaining the situation which arrived within minutes, the hospital being just around the corner. There were two personnel including a nurse. His wife went in the ambulance with him heard the nurse talking to the hospital on the phone. She had already told the nurse that her husband had had a stent fitted four years ago and I think that that was what the nurse was relaying to the hospital.

Believe it or not, they took him straight to surgery and fitted another stent ..... in the same artery. From leaving the house and having the surgery was just one hour !!
Of course it must have been an emergency and he spent five days in hospital.
So a big shout out to Torrevieja Hospital. :clapping:

Thank you all for your feedback, very much appreciated.

Reading personal experiences on this thread gives me more confidence in the Quiron Hospital, and allays my fears on the back of reading the Google Reviews.

Thank you all once again.

Hospital Universitario de Torrevieja - is this hospital the public one? Just read some Google reviews for A&E, wow, I hope I never end up there, lol.

Yes that's the Public Hospital. The Health Dept are gradually addressing the medical staff shortages since it went back into Public ownership. Crowding in A&E and waiting Lists seem to be the big issues. That seems to be a universal problem. I recently had to sit for 8hrs in an A&E waiting room here in Ireland with someone who was doubled over in pain waiting to be seen by a Dr. Not a nice experience.
