Is Torreta 111 finally to be taken in charge by the Town Hall?
Is Torreta 111 finally to be taken in charge by the Town Hall?
I see in today's Diario Informacion that the Town Hall, after a 30 years battle by the residents, might finally be stepping up to its moral and legal responsibilities to the Torreta 111 Urb. The residents are appealing a decision against them in favour of the Town Hall to the Supreme Court to have the public areas "taken into charge" by the Town Hall. As we know from previous topics on the subject the residents have been paying their IBI all these years to the Town Hall.
The article says:
"The judicial initiative, registered in January, contrasts with the meeting that the lawyer held on Thursday with the mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón (PP), with the general director of Urban Planning, Víctor Costa Mazón in which the mayor announced a «working meeting in order to finalize the project of action of this important area of the municipality »"

At this stage I am sure the residents want action not flowery language from the Town Hall.

Just looked at Torreta III urbanisation on Google street view and some areas of the urbanisation appear to be extremely well maintained, yet other areas neglected.
From what I have read online it seems that the promoter MASA never completed the infrastructure, the Town Hall never challenged it and returned MASA's guarantees. The guarantees should not have been returned to MASA by the Town Hall until the infrastructure was complete, but because the guarantees were returned it discharged MASA of any obligations to complete the outstanding work. Seems like an administrative error on the part of the Town Hall at the time.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of the situation the Town Hall has a moral obligation to look after the Town and its environs. The people who bought the properties are paying their IBI so they are not to blame.
Heillan'lass are you on this forum? You might be able to tell us if it looks like something might finally happen to resolve this impasse.

I finally managed to log in to this new site.
I can't see anything different happening here in Torreta 3 - we're still the forgotten people

Nice to see you are on here and sorry for spelling the name wrong. I seem to have a mental block with it
I thought the article looked quite hopeful. Fingers crossed the Town Hall won't spend the money on legal fees instead of putting in the Urb.

I'm sure on the original site, I was known as heilan'lassie, but I now seem to have lost my apostrophe, never mind, I have been called much worse.
I shall keep my eye out for any changes in Torreta 3, but I won't hold my breath

Stay on Torreta III many years ago when our friend had a bungalow very near where the bars were located near the Salt Lake. The last time I was there to stay was back in 1998, went back over the years after to have a look around, it always looked "unfinished". The pool along the main street... was it ever used? Certainly not from 1993 to 1998; bars like The Oasis always seemed busy, the British Legion place was busy but when I went a few years back this was empty, went inside and it had been vandalised.

We bought here in 1997.simonipswich wrote: 23 Feb 2020 12:14 Stay on Torreta III many years ago when our friend had a bungalow very near where the bars were located near the Salt Lake. I have never known the swimming pool to be open during our time here, although neighbours who had bought in 1983, when the urbanisation was first built, tell me that is was open for several years. Apparently, there was also a community office, but "someone" who administered the urbanisation ran off with the money
The British Legion was latterly known as Rayals, which was a reasonably decent restaurant, but that closed many years ago, and yes, it has now been abandoned and vandalised.
Oasis became El Bigote within the last couple of years, but the guy who ran that was an absolute disaster. Now it has been taken over again, and is called Steketai, and seems to be doing quite well.
When anyone asks me where I live, I just say that I live in the slums

Disappointing news for those living on Torreta III following Supreme Court ruling:

I saw that article Carl and it is very disheartening to read about the double speak of the PP. Saying one thing and making promises and then doing an about turn. Hopefully for the Torretas area money will be made available to put in the necessary infrastructures.
