Invasion Of The Madrileños In The Area

This might have gone some way to explaining the panic buying I saw this morning.

Because of coronavirus and associated restrictions in Madrid, the 'Madrileños' (hope I got the spelling right) have descended on the area to stay at their summer residences.

The Torrevieja health area have registered a noticeable increase in attendance of people at health centres and are preparing as they would for the summer months to cope with this sudden influx. Additionally they are receiving increased requests for coronavirus testing, mainly from those arriving from Madrid.

There also seems to be a growing backlash on social media about their arrival in the area, and the threat that they may pose in bringing the virus to the region.

..and there was me thinking that one of the hallowed pillars of the EU was "freedom of movement"!!

At its lowest level it is a form of racism....discrimination of a people because of where they come from!!

Somehow it makes me feel better, because the very same people discriminating against those from Madrid...who have every right to occupy their second homes....would consider themselves to be virulent, superior and moralistic anti racists!!!!i
